Pillion dies from unusual type of bike crash in rural St Andrew

Twenty-one-year-old Omar Bernard, a farmer of Hall’s Delight district in Mavis Bank, St Andrew, died as a result of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle crash on the Content Valley main road in the parish on Wednesday, November 6.

Reports from the Mavis Bank police are that about 5pm, Bernard was a pillion on a motorcycle when the handle of the cycle made contact with a pedestrian.

Bernard reportedly fell from the motorcycle and hit an embankment in the process.

He was also hit by a wheel of an Isuzu motor truck that was travelling in the opposite direction.

Bernard sustained several injuries and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the motorcycle has been warned by the policer for prosecution.

Investigations continue into the incident.
