French ambassador to Jamaica, Denys Wibaux, on Tuesday told the Reggae Girlz that they would be comfortable in France when the delegation arrives for the FIFA Women’s World Cup next month.

"I am 200 percent sure that the Jamaican team will be given a special welcome because French people love Jamaica. We love Jamaican music and you will be taken care of," said Wibaux as he hosted the Reggae Girlz at the French Embassy in Kingston.

The event was organised by gaming company Supreme Ventures Limited, a sponsor of the Jamaican national women's team.

The Reggae Girlz are preparing for a farewell friendly international match against Panama, the team they defeated 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out to qualify for the World Cup, on Sunday at the National Stadium.

The Panama game will be the final one at home before the Reggae Girlz depart for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France from June 7 to July 7.

And the French ambassador made sure he caught up with the history-making Reggae Girlz before they jet off to the World Cup.

Jamaica's Reggae Girlz created history on October 17, 2018 in the United States by becoming the first Caribbean team to reach the FIFA Women's World Cup.

The historic qualification to the 2019 FIFA World Cup follows the success of the men’s squad, which participated in the World Cup for the first time in France 1998.

The Reggae Girlz will begin their World Cup campaign on June 9 against 2007  Women's World Cup runners-up Brazil at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble.
