For the first time in its 75-year existence, the Jamaica Police Federation will have a female cop as its chairman.

Woman Corporal Arlene McBean was on Thursday elected to head the organisation which represents rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). She is from the Motorised Patrol Division of the JCF.

The election took place at the federation’s annual conference at the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande Hotel in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

McBean will be supported by an executive team that includes Inspector Sheldon Gordon of the St Andrew North Police Division, who was elected as the General Secretary of the federation.

There were two new members on the new executive, in comparison to the previous executive body.
