Grade 11 students of St Mary High School pay keen attention to Instrumentation & Electrical Technician, Odane Powell as he facilitates their very first tour of a power plant in Jamaica.

The Jamaica Private Power Company (JPPC) recently hosted 19 students from the St Mary High School, giving the youngsters exposure to the process of electricity generation and distribution.

The students, who will sit Electrical Technology CXC examinations, were accompanied by their teacher Ricardo Brown.

The plant tour was preceded by an environment, health & safety (EHS) briefing and then a tour of the JPPC’s tank farm, unloading bay, settling pond, purifier house, seawater house, powerhouse and reverse-osmosis plant.
