Person of interest held in relation to retirees’ murder in Portland

A person of interest has been taken into custody by police investigators probing the killing of two retirees in Portland on Saturday.
The man was picked up on Saturday afternoon at a business establishment in Kingston.
In response to the killing, the Police High Command has expressed regret at the deaths, and has given a commitment that the high-level investigation that is being conducted into the matter, will continue with alacrity and the highest level of professionalism.
Detectives form the Criminal Investigation Branch Headquarters (CIB HQ) and the Major Investigation Division (MID) are probing the incident.
The deceased are 77-year-old Halford Anderson, otherwise called ‘Charlie’, and his wife, 71-year-old Florence Anderson, otherwise called ‘Gayle’, both of Mount Pleasant district in Hope Bay, Portland, and Manchester, England. They were found dead at their home at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
