Perfect Neighbour to return to winning ways at Caymanas Park

Top trainer Wayne DaCosta’s PERFECT NEIGHBOUR, partnered by outgoing champion rider, Omar Walker, is the hot ante-post favourite for Wednesday’s open allowance event at nine furlongs and 25 yards.

After spending close to five months racing among graded stakes horses, PERFECT NEIGHBOUR is down in class at his favourite distance, hunting a repeat of his March 24 victory in the Bonnie Blue Flag Trophy. Late last month, he placed fourth behind Horse of the Year SHE’S A MANEATER in the Grade One Eros Trophy, finishing almost heads on with top sprinters MONEY MAGNET and SIEMPRE BUENO.

Facing six rivals, including stablemates UNCLE FRANK and DRUMMER BOY, PERFRECT NEIGHBOUR, should have the measure of Anthony Nunes’ ORPHEUS and Delroy Waugh’s up-in-class JAMAI RAJA.

DaCosta watched the 2013 Jamaica Derby winner zip six furlongs in 1:14.2 last Thursday morning, a time his rivals would die for.

ORPHEUS, who had beaten PERFECT NEIGHBOUR on his 2018 debut, February 28, hasn’t done much at exercise since returning from an almost four-month break late June.

Trainer Delroy Waugh appears to have got JAMAI RAJA back to form but the five-year-old is up in class after beating overnight allowance rivals on July 28.

Post time for the event is 5:20 p.m., the ninth of 10 races scheduled.

First post is 12:40 p.m.
