Parents remain in custody in relation to 3-y-o child’s death in St Ann
The parents who were arrested in relation to the death of their three-year-old daughter after being admitted with bruises and swelling at the St Ann Bay Hospital last week, remain in police custody.
The deceased child has been identified as Athena Forbes of Bogue Village in Montego Bay, St James.
According to police sources, the couple is to undergo further questioning.
In addition, investigators are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of the child's death.
Reports from the St Ann’s Bay Police are that about 7:10 p.m. last Saturday, Athena was in the company of her parents travelling from Montego Bay to Portland.
It is further alleged that she fell ill and was taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital.
While being medically examined, it was observed that her body had bruises and swelling, and the police were notified.
The child subsequently died and her body was removed to the morgue.
The parents of the child were later taken into police custody for questioning.
