Palace Resorts pumping US$270m in Ocho Rios upgrade, hotel rooms

Palace Resorts, the owners of Moon Palace Jamaica, is investing US$270 million to construct a 750-room hotel in St Ann, following the purchase of a beach property in Ocho Rios.

The company is also working with the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) to fast track the development the resort town Ocho Rios.

Designed by world-renowned designer, Francois Frossard, the blueprints include a gorgeous pier with a multitude of dining options, a renovated public beach, a boardwalk, snack bars, as well as a sand-based soccer field and an open-air craft market featuring local artisan items.

Clifton Reader, Managing Director of Moon Palace Jamaica said: “Ocho Rios has always been a sought-after locale for tourists and locals alike. Now, with Moon Palace’s development project trajectory, the plan will help create an even stronger infrastructure to elevate its presence, along with the town, the island, and its economic-impact to the island.”

The expansion and development project will leave a positive mark on the island, including the addition of at least 3,500 more direct jobs for Jamaicans, plus the opportunity for more than 200 existing employees to further their growth track within the organization upon project completion.
