Over 77 million units of RJR shares traded hands on Wednesday
A large shareholder in Radio Jamaica Limited (RJR) conducted the largest trade in two years with over 77.5 million units trading hands on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) on Wednesday.
The RJR trade led the day's volume but it also resulted in the stock dipping lower on the day, down 16 per cent to $1.02. Incidentally, RJR which operates a series of TV and radio channels led declines on the day's trading on the JSE.
Ironrock Insurance led double-digit gains on Wednesday’s trading with the company gaining 17 per cent to close at $3.50. It was followed by Eppley up 11 per cent to $10.57.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 2,791.14 points (0.72 per cent) to close at 389,221.62. The JSE Index advanced by 3,165.22 points (0.83 per cent) to close at 386,748.97. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 3,483.21 points
(0.83 per cent) to close at 424,499.16. The Junior Market Index declined by 10.48 points (0.34 per cent) to close at 3,090.66.
The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.08 points (0.04 per cent) to close at 179.78. The JSE Financial Index advanced by 0.51 points (0.52 per cent) to close at 98.82.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 62 stocks of which 26 advanced, 27 declined and 9 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 90,878,030 units valued at over $320.8 million.
