Over 220 million units of Jamaica Broilers shares traded hands

Shares in Jamaica Broilers Group witnessed their heaviest trading day of the year with over $220 million units trading hands on Wednesday.

Just over 8.25 million units traded. 

The shares were likely held by an individual or institution selling it as a block. The investor exited the trades at a premium with the stock moving higher 1.7 per cent to $27.34.

The day’s top gaining stock was MPC Caribbean Clean Energy up 21 per cent to close at $29,  while the day’s biggest declining stock was Express Catering down 19 per cent to $3.12.

The JSE Combined Index declined by 427.37 points ( 0.11 per cent) to close at 374,531.69; the JSE Index advanced by 193.22 points ( 0.05 per cent) to close at 378,479.15 and the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 35.98 points ( 0.01 per cent) to close at 414,887.27.

The Junior Market Index declined by 56.80 points ( 2.27 per cent) to close at 2,443.91.

The JSE USD Equities Index closed at 192.46 and the JSE Financial Index declined by 0.39 points ( 0.39 per cent) to close at 99.58.

The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index advanced by 1.07 points ( 1.43 per cent) to close at 75.71.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 81 stocks of which 23 advanced, 43 declined and 15 traded firm.
