Corporal Arlene McBean, the policewoman who was removed as chairman of the Police Federation in January, is taking legal action against the organisation.
In the lawsuit, McBean is claiming that she was illegally dismissed from the post. She is being represented by attorney Hugh Wildman.
“Those who are sitting in the Federation as chairman and general secretary are doing so illegally,” Wildman told Loop News.
The vocal police corporal, who last year became the first female to head the body that represents the rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), was replaced in January following a no-confidence motion.
The decision came following a set of extraordinary meetings with delegates of the body.
