Orpheus returns to winning ways in Allan E. 'Billy' Williams Memorial
Trainer Anthony Nunes and jockey Shane Ellis on Saturday combined to win two races at Caymanas Park including ORPHEUS in the 1400-metre Allan E. 'Billy' Williams Memorial Trophy.
ORPHEUS took over from LIKE A LADY three furlongs out and romped to an easy five-and-a-half length win.
The five-year-old chestnut horse won unchallenged at odds of 6-5 ahead of 5-1 chance PROLIFIC PRINCESS.
Nunes and Ellis teamed up to land the sixth event with first-timer ADONIS, ORPHEUS half-brother, both owned by Elias Haloute.
Champion apprentice Anthony Thomas followed up last Saturday's four-timer with three winners. He opened the card at 1400 metres with Wayne DaCosta's classic-bound colt, 2-5 favourite WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
Thomas returned to guide 4-5 favourite PAPA ALBERT to an easy win at 1000-metre straight before closing his tally with another favourite, PAKMAN, who dismissed rivals to land the seventh at odds of 4-5.
Trainer Enos Brown also saddled two winners, DAN DAN at 5-2 in the second event at 1400 metres and 2-1 chance OLD BRAETON at 1100 metres in the fifth.
Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Wednesday.
