Singer Alaine will be making her first public performance as a new-born Christian on Friday at Ryan Mark's album launch at the Celebration Church, Skating Rink in Portmore.

"I am looking forward to the event. It will be my first performance since my baptism," she told Loop News reporter Claude Mills.

Last week, entertainer Alaine was baptised by gospel singjay and ordained Minister Ryan Mark at Hellshire Beach in St Catherine. Ryan Mark is the minister at Pure In Heart Ministries International, which he founded in 2014.

"Since my baptism, I have been getting so many messages - so many I can't read them all - from several supporters, from the music fraternity,  and from my family, expressing their joy, and I know that is coming from a place of caring, and I will take this positive message and do my best to please Jesus and follow Him," she said.

She emerged from her immersion in essence, a transformed woman, but she had never abandoned her true north of loving God.

“I've always loved God, throughout all my challenges, throughout all my life,  God has been the constant, whether I am happy or sad, or made good or bad decisions. I've always loved Jesus and the sacrifice He made for us, so I want to live my life to keep me in His presence, because it matters," Alaine, whose real name is Alaine Laughton, said.

Asked whether she would be doing a gospel album soon., she said: "I create based on what I feel, so we will see what happens. I trust God with what is coming."

In the meantime, she said she's spending time with God, and her three dogs, Squiddly Dee, Achoo and Molly Doodle, all shih tzus.

"I am open to inspiration, I am surrounded by a great support system of family and friends, I am excited about this journey of love, I am gratified that I made this decision, and that no one forced me to do this," she said.

Alaine is the second artiste in recent times to apparently embark on a more spiritual path. Singjay Wayne Marshall recently opened up about his transition and even sheared his locks as a symbol of the new direction in his life. Two years ago, Lady Saw, an entertainer known for ribald songs, also made the leap of faith into Christianity.
