Omar Walker reels off three-timer on Independence Day race card
Jockey Omar Walker
Omar Walker rode three winners on Monday's Independence Day racemeet at Caymanas Park including SUPERLUMINAL at 10 furlongs in the 10th event for overnight allowance runners.
SUPERLUMINAL led past DYSFUNCTIONAL three furlongs out and found extra to fend off 4-5 favourite DONTAE, who made his move to launch a challenge coming off the home turn.
Ridden out in the stretch run, SUPERLUMINAL stayed on stoutly to win by a length from Dontae with Shane Ellis, closing a three-timer for Walker, who had opened his account in the sixth race astride ALSO CORRECT.
Walker had won the previous event astride PANDORA'S BOX, rallying the three-year-old filly to chase and nab ARIA at the wire, winning the five-and-half furlong maiden condition event by a neck.
Monday marked the first three-timer for the six-time champion since returning from a wrist injury in January.
Meanwhile, leading rider Anthony Thomas rode two winners on the 11-race card, his fifth in two meets, after booting home a three-timer on Saturday, which takes him 24 clear of Ellis atop the jockeys' standings.
Racing continues on Saturday.
