A recent National Water Commission (NWC) revenue recovery operation which was carried out in Bogue Village, St James, resulted in 32 properties with inactive accounts (accounts previously disconnected for delinquency) being found with illegal water connections, while eight supplies had evidence of tampering.

Additionally, the NWC team uncovered four premises with bypass connections.

Back charges of over $900,000 have subsequently been applied to the irregular accounts, and one individual was arrested and charged under the NWC Act, for trespassing on the works of the NWC,  and is to appear in court.

Following the Bogue Village operation, the NWC said it is urging its customers to desist from illegal activities relative to water supply in order to avoid embarrassment, court action and back charges.
