The National Water Commission (NWC) is offering a 30 per cent discount to residential and condominium customers who are in arrears for more than 90 days.
The NWC said the move is part of its efforts to support customers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
At a digital press conference on Wednesday, the NWC said some 31,000 customers will immediately benefit from the initiative which will last for a period of three months to July 31.
The NWC has also waived late payment and reconnection fees over the period.
"We believe that this wave is second to none during the COVID period, where we are helping our customers to survive the pandemic; helping our customers to reduce the fear of not having the service... " President and CEO of the NWC, Mark Barnett, said.
"Although we too are facing our far share of financial challenges because of COVID-19, we are not blinded to the needs of the vulnerable," Barnett continued. "We believe that this is an opportunity to keep our revenue flowing as well as provide well needed financial support to our customers."
