People being evacuated from the King Street tax office on Wednesday.

Noxious fumes at the tax office on King Street in downtown Kingston forced the evacuation of the building on Wednesday morning, the second such incident in a month.

Staff members at the office reportedly complained about the air quality in the building, with some persons reportedly falling ill.

Tax Administration Jamaica said a decision was subsequently made to close the office.

The noxious fumes was reportedly the result of a chemical being used at the building which got into the air conditioning unit.

The office is expected to resume operations on Thursday.
