Nordia drops 'Ice Cream and Chocolate Bars' single for Reef Records
Reef Records recording artiste Nordia believes that her educational training in the field of social work will help her to connect with the feelings and challenges facing her targeted teenybopper audience.
"I have been writing songs for a long time. I write about how I feel, and a lot of young people my age are going through similar challenges with their personal and family relationships, so with my social work training, I am tuned into the problems facing teenagers, their fears, their dreams, their insecurities, and my songs will connect with them in a real way," the artiste whose real name is Nordia Mothersille, said.
Nordia's debut track, the sweet 'Ice Cream and Chocolate Bars', was officially released in November 2018 and is available on iTunes and other downloadable platforms. The single is also generating airplay on FM radio stations in the island.
"The song is really doing well on Spotify and there is a lyric video on YouTube, and based on the feedback, there are plans to shoot a video for the song next month," the 20 year old said.
Nordia is a final year student at the Moneague Community College where she is reading for a bachelor's degree in social work.
Mothersille grew up in the town of Islington, St Mary where she attended Port Maria Preparatory School and then Marymount High school where she actively participated in the school choirs. She also honed her skills performing at church choirs.
After graduating Marymount High school, she continued to write songs while attending college. A year ago, she met record producer and artiste manager Romaine Henry and then inked a recording and management contract with Reef Records.
"It was great to finally find a place where I could record steadily and write songs and really develop my talent," she said.
