Netball World Cup: Jamaica beat T&T to progress in Liverpool
Jamaica's Sunshine Girls recorded a 68-43 win over Trinidad and Tobago to go top of Group C and qualify for the second stage of preliminaries on day two of the Netball World Cup in Liverpool.
The top three teams from each of the groups move into the second preliminary round.
Second-ranked Sunshine Girls have two wins from two matches and will secure top spot in the group if they beat fifth-ranked South Africa on the final day of the round-robin first preliminary stage on Sunday.
South Africa, who hammered Fiji 90-35 to also qualify for the second stage of preliminaries, also have two wins from two matches.
Captain and goal shooter Jhaniele Fowler led Jamaica with 38 goals from 40 attempts, while goal attack Shanice Beckford had 12 from 14.
For Trinidad and Tobago, Kalifa McCollin had 19 goals from 21 attempts, while Samantha Wallace also had 19, this from 24 tries.
