My Elle Belle to outstay rivals in 7th race at Caymanas Park
United States-bred fillies, MY ELLE BELLE and SUPER SPARKLE renew rivalry in Saturday’s 4:05 p.m. seventh race at Caymanas Park after being separated by a length and a half in their first meeting at seven and a half furlongs in March.
Spencer Chung's MY ELLE BELLE, should start favourite at eight and a half furlongs after outstaying SUPER SPARKLE going a furlong shorter to register her first win. SUPER SPARKLE has worked really well, six furlongs in 1:14.0 last Sunday morning, and will try using her speed to steal the race from in front.
Whereas SUPER SPARKLE subsequently won a race, MY ELLE BELLE has since won a second, beating a decent rivals - HONEY RYDA and MY SUGARMAN at a mile in 1:40.4.
In addition, last time out she finished six and a half lengths behind vastly improved HILLY’S HALO at six and a half furlongs, needing more distance.
Now stretched out at eight and a half, running at 117lb with leading rider Anthony Thomas, the three-year-old chestnut filly is back at a suitable trip against SUPER SPARKLE, who has stamina limitations, having never gone past seven and a half furlongs.
Meanwhile, the season’s third two-year-old race sees the debut of trainer Wayne DaCosta’s PRINCESS ANNIE, a half-sister to FUTURE KING, who had won the 2016 Guineas and lost the Jamaica Derby in the stewards room in a historic double disqualification, which saw him being placed third behind ORPHEUS and BIGDADDYKOOL.
PRINCESS ANNIE has looked decent enough at exercise, her best being 1:03.3 from the gate, easy, out straight, the first half-mile in 47.2, beating TOP SHELF, who will also line up in the 2:55 p.m. Front Runner Dash at five furlongs round.
