Murders, lotto scamming dominate St James Circuit Court

Lotto scamming and murders dominated the matters to be called up in the first four weeks of the St James Circuit Court which is to run for two months.
Addressing the opening of the St James Circuit Court on Monday, Supreme Court Judge, Justice Glen Brown and Assistant Director of Public Prosecution, Adley Duncan noted that a total of 186 cases are on the books for the first four weeks.
Brown and Duncan also noted that during the four week period, some 77 lotto scamming cases, 60 murders, 35 rape cases, 20 carnal abuse cases, two human trafficking matters are among the cases down for hearing.
In the meantime, there are some 231 cases on the books over the eight weeks.
