Mr Universe takes BGLC Trophy

MR UNIVERSE went gate-to-wire in the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) Trophy at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, leading home ANOTHER BULLET by five and a quarter lengths in a fast 1:05.0 for five and a half furlongs.

ORPHEUS was third in the open allowance sprint, finishing eight and three quarter lengths behind MR UNIVERSE, the 1-5 favourite.  Gary Richards put the four-year-old colt in front and set splits of 22.4 and 45.4, turning for home unmolested.

The Emancipation Day Trophy was won by 10-1 outsider PHINEAS, who stormed to the front midway the last half-furlong.

Aaron Chatrie rode back-to-back winners on the 10-race card, MISS IN KISS and BINDAREDUNDAT in the third and fourth races, respectively.

Trainers Steven Todd and Paul Charlton each saddled two winners. Todd opened the programme with money-back favourite CHIEF PROSPECT and followed up with 2-1 chance DIFFERENT GENERATION in the fifth.

Charlton's winners were BINDAREDUNDAT and 6-5 favourite FLOWERS THIRTY in the ninth.

Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Saturday followed by Monday's Independence Day holiday meet.
