Mountain View Avenue/Windward Road intersection to be closed on Sunday
Motorists who normally travel in the vicinity of the intersection at Windward Road and Mountain View Avenue in East Kingston are being advised that the area will be closed to vehicular traffic this Sunday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The National Works Agency (NWA) has advised that the traffic change is to facilitate the connection and testing of new National Water Commission (NWC) pipes in the area.
The NWA said motorists travelling along Mountain View Avenue who wish to access Windward Road to continue eastward, to turn left onto Cartridge Road, then right onto Range Crescent, right onto Norman Terrace, before continuing onto Windward Road.
Persons wishing to travel westward from Mountain View Avenue can use Langston Road and Homestead Road, exiting on Windward Road in the vicinity of the Pentecostal Church at 111 Windward Road.
The NWA said road work along Windward Road is being done under the Major Infrastructure Development Programme (MIDP) at a cost of $141 million.
New water lines are being installed at a cost of a further $35 million.
The NWA is advising persons who may travel through the construction zone this Sunday, to obey the instructions from warning signs and exercise caution while travelling along the corridor.
