Mount Pleasant, one of two promoted teams in the 2018-2019 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), made a dream start to their campaign with a 2-1 victory over defending champions Portmore United on Match Day 1 on Sunday.

The game was played at Prison Oval in Spanish Town.

A goal four minutes into added time by Portmore United former player Sue-Lae McCalla was the decider. Devon Hodges handed Mount Pleasant a sixth-minute lead but that  was cancelled by Rosario Harriott in the 11th minute.

It was one of three victories for travelling teams in the day's early matches as Tivoli Gardens defeated Montego Bay United  2-0 at Wespow Park and Cavalier also won by the same scoreline, this against Reno at Frome Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, a waterlogged field at the Mona Bowl prevented any action between University of the West Indies (UWI) FC and Harbour View.

The field was inspected by officials just before the scheduled 3:30 pm start. With patches of water settling on the surface and the markings washed away, they took the decision to postpone the match.

SUNDAY’S RESULTS

Montego Bay United 0 Tivoli Gardens 2
Portmore United 1 Mount Pleasant 2
UWI vs Harbour View at Mona Bowl (Rain, no play)

MONDAY'S GAME:
