Motorcyclist dies from crash with truck in Westmoreland

A motorcycle rider died as a result of injuries he sustained during a collision with a truck along a roadway in Westmoreland on Saturday.

A pillion rider has been hospitalised for injuries which were also sustained in the crash.

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old labourer, Delton Blair, who was of Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland.

Reports are that on Saturday afternoon, Blair was driving a motorcycle with a pillion rider along the Cave roadway in his parish, when on negotiating a corner, the cycle collided with a truck that was being driven in the opposite direction.

The two occupants of the motorcycle sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to hospital, where Blair was pronounced dead and the other man was admitted.

The Bluefields police are investigating the incident.
