With a murderous start to 2019 in August Town in Eastern St Andrew, where three homicides were recorded on New Year’s Day, a curfew has been imposed in sections of the August Town police area.

The curfew began at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7.

It is the second ongoing curfew, with the first being imposed in a section of Spanish Town in the St Catherine North Police Division on Wednesday when the state of emergency that was in place in the division expired. The Spanish Town curfew has since been extended.

The boundaries of the August Town curfew are as follows:

NORTH:                Along an imaginary line about 500 metres from the hill ridge at Goldsmith Villa in the vicinity of a large upstairs building to the intersection with Payton Place and Mona Road.

EAST:                     Along an imaginary line about 2000 metres from the intersection with Payton Place and Mona Road to the intersection of Silvera Drive and Bryce Hill Road.

SOUTH:                Along an imaginary line about 200 metres from the intersection of Silvera Drive and Bryce Hill Road to Top Road.

WEST:                   Along an imaginary line about 1,500 metres from Top Road to the large upstairs building along the hill ridge at Goldsmith Villa.

During the hours of the curfew, all persons within the boundaries of the curfew are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorised in writing by the ground commander.
