The Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) believes its recently held Management and Business Conference helped in shaping its role to develop new methods in the Jamaican entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The conference, held under the theme, 'Delivering On The Promise of Entrepreneurship' brought together distinguished panellists over 23 sessions to discuss innovation and growth; smart risk-taking and collaboration.

“This is one of the ways that as an academic institution we can play our role. By bringing together the different players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Inviting dialogue, cross-sector collaboration and dialogue and we did that,” said senior research officer at MSBM Indiana Minto-Coy.

She added: "So the sessions focused on some of the hard skills for entrepreneurs. We looked audit, legal and regulatory issues that we all need to know about as entrepreneurs and MSMEs.

There were also discussions about youth entrepreneurship, gender and networking.

Exhibits were displayed throughout from business and enterprises that came through the MSBM's venture capital competitions.

Meanwhile, Dr David McBean, executive director of MSBM said the institution is a part of the system spearheading the initiative that entrepreneurship delivers to the Jamaican economy, with a long record of research, teaching and learning.

“This was another in the series of building bridges between, not just Mona and the School of Business and Management but also the wider university, to the business community,” McBean said.
