MoDA 2017 – the best yet
The Collection MoDA events held this year at the Jamaica Pegasus and the Spanish Court Hotel were well received and many say the best yet!
Founded by Kerry- Ann Clarke three years ago with the idea to promote and find a market for the Caribbean creative industries, MoDA has become a much anticipated event on Kingston’s social scene.
Kerry – Ann Clarke and her team have created a platform for Caribbean creative talent to take their work from concept to business opportunities through seminars, a fashion showcase and a curated buyers’ market aimed at local, regional and international wholesale buyers and individual consumers.
This year’s theme was ‘Urban Chic’ with the Pegasus decked out as a post industrial dystopia landscape.
The collections of Carlton Brown, Korto Momolu, David Rolle, Arlene Martin, Daniella Stone, Courtney Washington, JohnEli DaCosta and Cesar Galindo were all enthusiastically received at a well attended fashion show on Thursday evening at the Jamaica Pegasus.
Speaking with Loop News Kerry-Ann Clarke said: “ The fashion show was well received and we had a full house despite the rain. Some say it was the best MoDA yet.
“MoDA Market at the Spanish Court was well attended with 12 designers from Trinidad showcasing their jewelry and fashion ware collections. The idea behind the MoDA collection is to showcase the very best in Caribbean creative talent in Kingston.”
Among those in attendance at this year’s fashion show were: Peter Bovell, Hugh Graham, Matthew and Rebecca Stevenson, Peter and Nicola Melhado, Protoje, Tami Chynn, Roderick and Celeste Gordon, Brett Wong, Christelle Harris, Gregory and Michelle Mayne, Tess Leon, Chris Dehring and his wife Katia, Nasma Chin and Nicole Pandohie.
