Men killed in August Town identified as cops increase presence in area

The police have identified the two men who were shot and killed in August Town.

They are Damion Ball, a 39-year-old resident of Golden Smith Villa and 25-year-old Carlyle Grant, of Barrett Drive, Kingston 7.

Police say the two were shot dead in separate incidents on Friday.

Police theorize that the attacks were carried out by criminals who are now locked in a deadly gang feud in the area.

In the first incident, police said they were called to Princess Alice Drive section of the community at about 5:35 a.m., by residents who heard gunfire.

A search was carried out in the area and the body of Ball was found with gunshot wounds.

Police said they were processing that murder scene when they were alerted to another shooting incident, this time, on Barrett Drive, also in Kingston 7, where two other men were shot about 8:35 a.m.

Reports are that the men were walking along the road when thugs travelling in a Tiida motor vehicle drove up and opened fire hitting the two. The attackers then left the area.

The two injured men were rushed to the hospital where Grant was pronounced dead.

The other injured person remains in hospital.

Police say as a result of the ongoing violence they have increased their presence in the community and are also calling on residents to remain calm as they work to restore order.
