Member of Portmore-based ‘Gorilla’ gang convicted
Alleged Portmore gangster, Shane ‘Uno’ Facey, was on Tuesday convicted in the Corporate Area Gun Court for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Facey will be sentenced on July 29 in what Senior Superintendent Clive Blair has described as a blow to the Naggo’s Head-based Gorilla gang in the St Catherine South police division.
“He is to be sentenced after much hard work by the investigating officer, Constable Adrian Smith, Constable Michael Beckford and District Constable Jason McKay for the offence, which had taken place in Braeton, Phase 1, in August of last year,” Blair said.
“We are also looking at some cases of murder that he is alleged to have been involved in,” Blair added, naming Facey as a member of the ‘Gorilla’ gang, which extorts businesses and transport operators in the Naggo’s Head taxi stand in Portmore.
“He is one of the top-tier members of the Gorilla Gang, which operates in the Naggo’s Head space. This gang would have given us some shootings and murders over a period of time, plus extortion activities at the Naggo’s Head taxi stand,” he added.
Facey was convicted when he appeared before Justice Leighton Pusey.
