Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch's (CIB) Major Investigation Division (MID) have charged a second suspect with the June 5 murder of Lorenzo Thomas in Cassava Piece, St Andrew.

The accused has been identified as 23-year-old Andre Hinds.

Hinds has been charged jointly with the 16-year-old son of dancehall entertainer, Mavado, for the murder of Thomas.

They are jointly charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, arson, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The two accused are booked to appear in court on Monday, June 18.

The police are alleging that on June 5 at about 3:00 a.m., the two accused were among a group of armed men who kicked open a door to Thomas' Cassava Piece house in St Andrew. Thomas was subsequently shot and chopped with machetes, and then set ablaze.

Following their arrests, the MID has said Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, is still being sought for questioning.

The entertainer is still overseas, but his attorneys are reportedly making arrangements for his return.
