Massive ganja bust in Treasure Beach; abandoned vehicles seized

The police seized two motor vehicles and about 1,700 pounds of compressed ganja during an anti-narcotics operation in St Elizabeth on Wednesday afternoon.

No one has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

Reports are that about 8:50 p.m., the occupants of two motor vehicles which were intercepted by the police in the Treasure Beach area of St Elizabeth, fled the scene, leaving the vehicles behind.

During a search of the abandoned vehicles, the police found several parcels containing compressed ganja weighing nearly 1,700 pounds.

The vehicles and the drugs were subsequently seized.

Investigations continue by the Narcotics Division.
