Markland Edwards joins Gospel JA as programmes manager
After leaving LOVE FM, broadcaster Markland “Action” Edwards has landed an administrative job at another gospel radio station, Gospel JA FM.
Edwards will now serve as programmes manager as well as a presenter, hosting the high energy afternoon Christian lifestyle programme, 'The Overflow'.
"The Overflow will be Gospel JA's high energy, prime time afternoon gospel experience. Loaded with inspirational and informative features, listeners will be engaged spiritually and socially," Markland Edwards said in a release.
The themed weekday show will be aired Mondays to Fridays from 2 pm to 5.30 pm and will cater to the needs of all listeners regardless of gender or age.
Edwards will also be hosting "The Spotlight" on Saturdays from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Gospel JA FM is one of the fastest growing radio stations in Jamaica, moving up from number 9 to 6 in the 2019 All Media survey which deals with monitoring and tracking audience patterns and ratings to all media including radio, television, newspaper, cable, video and satellite.
In his capacity as programmes manager, Edwards will oversee the day-to-day operations of Gospel JA FM.
He will also be coordinating and administering a range of operational and administrative activities in direct support of the delivery of 24-hour radio programming by the station.
With over twenty-five years’ experience in media locally and in Canada, Edwards is excited about his new role.
“I am looking forward to working with the team at Gospel JA FM. It’s not so much about changing up what’s already there, but rather, to build on the foundation that has already been laid and, in addition, creatively enhance the station’s output. We are also focused on providing the very best Jamaican gospel music alongside focusing on having new and up-coming gospel artistes being heard once they have a positive message," Edwards said.
