“What next?” was the question that rang in Sandra Ledgister’s mind after she left the job she held for over a decade in corporate Jamaica.

“I didn’t know what to do and a voice said to me, go and make something,” Ledgister reflected.

It’s been two years since she’s put her hands and creative mind to good use, making several items ranging from furniture, to wooden puzzles, to flower pots. You name it, she’ll make it under her Sandmade Designz brand.

Having a marketing background has also enabled Ledgister to constantly come up with ideas and solutions that has led her to move the products and business forward.

“I know how to step outside of my box and become customer, become marketer, and become an entrepreneur,” she said.

Despite encountering challenges such as sourcing materials for her work, the entrepreneur widely known as Sani Ledge, believes she can maintain a market for her products.

“I’m the only crazy person who plays around in cement and hypertufa…” she told Young People in Business.

Moreover, Ledgister believes she’s found a niche with her wooden puzzles, which can serve as an educational tool for children or a keep sake for tourists who come to the island.
