Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Mark Golding, will on Tuesday make his maiden Budget Debate presentation in the House of Representatives.
Golding, who took his seat in the House of Representatives following a by-election win last October, has a finance background and his presentation is eagerly awaited especially as he is viewed as one of the rising stars in the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP).
In fact, his by-election win was for the South St Andrew seat that was held by his close friend, the longstanding Finance Minister Dr Omar Davies, who retired last summer.
Following Shaw’s opening presentation to mark the start of the 2018/2019 Budget Debate last Thursday in which the Government did not impose any new taxes, the first time for any administration in the last 14 years, the Opposition had hinted that the Government could have gone further and cut taxes.
It is not known whether Golding will hold to that position during his budget presentation on Tuesday.
