MANNING CUP: KC, Trinity join JC in semis; STGC, STATHS to playoff

Title favourites Kingston College (KC) put in a good performance to dispose of defending champions Jamaica College 2-0 at the Stadium East field on Saturday's final day of quarter-final action in the 2017 ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup competition.

KC got goals from Rashawn MacKison in the third minute, while Fabian Grant doubled the lead in the 83rd to make the points safe.

The result means KC finished top of Group H with seven points and head to the Manning Cup semi-finals where they await the winner of a playoff between St George’s College (STGC) and St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS).

JC, in the meantime, who finished second on six points, will get ready for a semi-final clash against Holy Trinity High, which finished atop of Group G,

Those match-ups were arranged after Holy Trinity defeated St Catherine High School 2-0 to top their quarterfinal group with five points, while St George’s College and STATHS played out a 0-0 draw, leaving both dead even in second place with three points each. They will meet once again in a replay tiebreaker in November.

The other quarterfinal game, turned into a dead rubber very quickly, as Calabar High School, which could have made the semi-final had KC lost big enough and had they beaten Bridgeport High, were ambushed 3-1 by their opponents at the Prison Oval Field.

Holy Trinity 2 St Catherine 0
STATHS 0 St George's College 0

Bridgeport 3 Calabar 0
