MANNING CUP: JC beat Mona; KC and Calabar stretch perfect win records

Defending champions Jamaica College (JC), Kingston College (KC), Eltham High and Charlie Smith Comprehensive recorded big victories on Tuesday's opening day of return matches in the 2017 ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup competition.

Eltham High secured the biggest victory margin on the day, winning 6-0 at Campion College, while JC and KC recorded identical 5-0 victories over Mona High and Spanish Town High respectively.

The victory by Eltham High allowed them to keep alive their hopes of progressing to the second round of the competition. They remained in third place in Group G, six points behind leaders Calabar (18) and three points behind second place Charlie Smith (15).

Calabar scored a 3-1 home victory over Jonathan Grant to keep their perfect win record intact, while Charlie Smith won 4-0 at Cedar Grove Academy.

JC, scored four goals in the last quarter of their match against visitors Mona High to secure a 5-0 victory. JC had won the first game 3-1 at Mona High.

With the victory, JC moved to 14 points to remain atop Group B by goal difference over St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS).

Both schools have identical records of four victories and two draws from six games, but JC have a goal difference of 17 compared by STATHS' 10.

The 5-0 victory for KC at Spanish Town High allowed them to stretch their perfect win record to six straight victories. KC completed an aggregate 11-0 victory after thrashing Spanish Town High 6-0 in their opening match of the season on September 9.

With the victory, KC moved to maximum 18 points , a five-point lead in Group E over second place Excelsior, who won 3-2 at Ardenne High.
