Man shot dead over lighter in Hanover

A dispute over a lighter in Logwood, Hanover has left one man dead and another behind bars.

The incident occurred on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

The dead man has been identified as 21-year-old Laron Rowe, also called ‘Fudgy’ of a Logwood, Green Island address in the western parish.

The Green Island Police report that Rowe and the accused man were embroiled in a heated argument over ownership of a lighter at a shop in the community. Rowe is reported to have attacked the accused man with a machete. The suspect pulled a handgun from his waist and shot Rowe several times, killing him on the spot.

The accused man was held hours after when police swooped down on a premises in the parish.

The gun which was used in the murder was not recovered.
