Man lucky to be alive after being shot by robbers in St James

A man is lucky to be alive after he was shot and injured by gunmen while he ran from them in Unity Hall, St James.

The injured man, said to be a 28-year-old resident of Unity Hall, was hospitalised as a result of his injuries.

Police reports are that about 8.30 pm  on Wednesday night, the man arrived at his home and was in the process of opening the grille when he was pounced upon by two armed men.

He was then forced inside the house by the gunmen, who demanded money.

The man, however, suddenly ran from the house, and was shot several times by the hoodlums.

He managed to escape to another section of the community, where residents assisted him to the hospital.

The police are probing the incident.
