Man fined $30,000 for bootlegging movies

Persons have been repeatedly warned to desist from burning and selling movies without the proper consent by the authorities. But alas, people continue to flout the laws of the country.

A St Catherine man, Taylor Tyshaune, is one of those persons. He appeared before parish judge Tara Reid-Carr having been accused of being caught with over 20 illegal copies of movies. He was fined $30,000 or 30 days imprisonment.

The Copyright Act is a form of protection provided by the laws of the state to authors of original works of authorship.  This includes literary, dramatic,  musical, artistic and certain other creative works.

However with the harsh economy and jobs not available, persons continue to breach this act.
