Man charged for ‘pulling gun’ on child’s mother during money dispute
A 28-year-old man who allegedly attacked the mother of his child, including pulling a gun on her when she went to him for maintenance money in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, has been arrested and charged by the police.
The accused man has been identified as Denar Bowen, otherwise called ‘Smiley’, a labourer of Chantilly Gardens in Savanna-la-Mar.
Reports are that on July 11, the mother of the accused man’s one-year-old child went to visit him for child maintenance and an argument developed between both persons.
Allegations are that during the dispute, the man used his hands to hit the complainant to her face and chest, causing visible bruises and swelling.
Further reports are that the now accused then pulled a firearm from his waistband, which he pointed at the complainant while threatening to shoot her.
A report was made to the police, and a statement was recorded from the complainant, implicating the accused.
He was later arrested on a warrant.
He has since been charged with illegal possession of firearm, assault at common law and assault occasioning bodily harm.
