Man charged for manslaughter in Dyke Road crash; three confirmed dead

A driver of a Subaru Impreza motorcar involved in an accident that claimed three lives on Monday has been officially slapped with manslaughter charges.

The driver appeared in the St Catherine parish court on Thursday where he was granted bail and ordered to return to court in September. 

The Portmore Police have confirmed that three persons died in the motor vehicle collision along Dyke Road in Portmore, St Catherine. 

The deceased have been identified as Christopher Martin, 38-year-old taxi operator of Dunbeholden district, Portmore; Catherine Hyman of a Bog Walk address and 24-year-old Christopher Dillon.

Reports from the Portmore Police are that about 8:30 am, Martin was driving a Toyota Wish motorcar towards the Portmore Toll when, on reaching a section of the roadway, the driver of a Subaru Impreza motorcar allegedly turned right, colliding with the Toyota Wish. Nine persons, including both drivers received injuries.

The police were summoned and the injured persons taken to hospital. Martin and two of his passengers -  Hyman and Dillon were pronounced dead while the others were treated.
