Man charged for bus conductor’s murder in St Andrew
The police say they have now charged a man in connection with the murder of bus conductor Tyrone Reid, otherwise called ’Stamma’, who is we shot dead at the intersection of Bay Farm Road and Olympic Way in St Andrew earlier this year.
The man charged have been identified as 21-year-old Orlando Campbell, otherwise called ‘Lucas’, of Lincoln Road, Kingston 13.
The police said Campbell was this week charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, along with illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that about 5.15 pm on Thursday, February 19, Reid was walking along the roadway when men on a motorcycle approached him as he reached the intersection of Bay Farm Road and Olympic Way.
It is alleged that the pillion passenger opened gunfire, hitting Reid before the attackers fled the scene on the motorcycle.
The police were summoned and on their arrival, the scene was processed and the body was removed to the morgue.
Campbell was charged after he was pointed out on an identification parade.
The date for his appearance in court is being finalised by the police.
