Man booked for murder, wounding with intent of father, mother

The police say a 34-year-old man who is accused of recently killing his father and seriously wounding his mother in St Andrew, is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court to answer to charges of murder and wounding with intent within a matter of days.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that about 2pm, the accused, Richard Campbell, otherwise called ‘Richie’, of Old Hope Road, St Andrew, who is believed to suffer from schizophrenia, had a dispute with his parents, during which a machete was brought into play.

The police were summoned and on their arrival, 72-year-old Leighton Campbell and his wife of the same address, were found with several wounds to their upper bodies.

They were assisted to a hospital, where Leighton was pronounced dead and his wife was admitted for treatment.

Richard’s court date is to be announced soon, said the police.
