Man arrested in $13m drug bust granted bail
EDITOR'S NOTE: An earlier version of this story erroneously stated that the drug bust occurred at the Kingston Wharves. While the incident reportedly occurred at a container terminal at the Kingston wharf, it was not at the Kingston Wharves. We regret the error and apologise unreservedly to the Kingston Wharves.
The man who was charged in connection to a seizure of 18 parcels of cocaine valued at approximately $13 million dollars at a container terminal in Kingston, has been granted bail.
Reports from the police are that in July of this year the man Shawn Taylor was seen allegedly unloading packages of cocaine at the Kingston wharf.
He was later charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and possession of and dealing in the contraband.
He was denied bail initially following an application by a previous Attorney.
Reports are that since that time Taylor, with a new attorney Able-Don Foote, made another application and was granted bail in the sum of $350,000 in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
He was granted bail with one or two sureties and is to report to the police three times per week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
