Mailpac localizes online shopping with same-day deliveries

Mailpac Services announced earlier this month, that it has extended its online shopping solution to local businesses, enabling Jamaican consumers to shop online from local stores and get same-day delivery to their doorsteps.

More specifically, the company has developed a web-based shopping platform called Mailpac Local that utilizes the latest in aisle shopping technology.

Developed by online grocery companies such as Amazon Fresh and Instacart, this technology makes it quick and easy for shoppers to virtually browse the aisles of a store, seamlessly fill a shopping cart with goods, and have them delivered to their doorstep shortly thereafter.

Mailpac Local accepts local cards as payment on the site or the customer can pay on delivery.

The move continues to transform Mailpac from being a simple logistics provider into Jamaica’s only true e-commerce platform.

Khary Robinson, Mailpac’s Chairman, believes the investment will unlock tremendous value as it will allow Jamaican consumers to increase the benefits they receive from shopping online, including the convenience of shopping for PriceSmart goods, groceries and office supplies from the comfort and ease of their phone or laptop.

“It is no secret that shopping online provides superior convenience for consumers as they no longer have to drive to stores, fight traffic and join long lines. However, until the development of Mailpac Local, the average Jamaican was not able to shop

online for weekly consumables such as grocery and office supplies. Mailpac Local has now put every item in PriceSmart, Hi- Lo and Stationary Center online and ensures easy buying and quick delivery,” said Robinson.

At the core of the new Mailpac Local platform is a unique ecommerce solution built for bulk buying. Not only does the solution allow you to ‘walk’ down isles and drop things into your cart with one click, but it saves your most recent shopping cart so weekly reordering can happen very quickly.

More importantly, every online shopper is paired with an actual in store concierge that will call you with any questions or changes that need to be made. A first of its kind in Jamaica, the platform provides a unique level of convenience and support for today’s busy shopper.

Mailpac Local has been serving a select group of customers since February 2016. The company operated under the name Caddiz while it refined its technology and logistics infrastructure. Now servicing over 700 hundred consumers monthly, the company has been expanded to include a number of enhanced features under its new name Mailpac Local.
