Mailpac deepens partnership with PriceSmart

Logistics company, MailPac has entered into a new agreement with PriceSmart, to stock the retailer’s products on its e-commerce website, mailpaclocal.com. 

The new arrangement will see the MailPac listing all of PriceSmart’s goods on its website as a means of better facilitating the delivery of products to PriceSmart members in response to limitations on movement and gatherings due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). 

Mailpac’s online shopping mall previously carried a few of PriceSmart’s products. 

“It is no secret that shopping online provides superior convenience for consumers as they no longer have to drive to stores, fight traffic and join long lines. However, with the advent of coronavirus, online shopping has become a social and economic necessity as it allows people to still garner the goods they need while adhering to the important social distancing practices.,” MailPac’s Executive Chairman, Khary Robinson said.

“With our unique technology and unmatched delivery infrastructure, Mailpac Local has now put every item in PriceSmart online to ensure easy buying and quick delivery."

The move continues to transform Mailpac from being a logistics provider into Jamaica’s full-service e-commerce firm.

Mailpac Local is a long-standing platform that has been serving a select group of customers since February 2016. The company operated under the name Caddiz while it refined its technology and logistics infrastructure.

With the new partnership, Mailpac company has hired 30 new workers over the past few days to manage operations and has also added five vehicles to its fleet. 

To ensure the process of buying is seamless, Mailpac Local has also employed a new online shopping technology called virtual aisle browsing.

Utilized by online grocery companies such as Amazon Fresh and Instacart, this technology makes it quick and easy for shoppers to virtually browse the aisles of a store, seamlessly fill a shopping cart with goods and have them delivered to their doorstep shortly thereafter.

Mailpac Local also allows the customers to shop from past orders so that repeat shopping is quicker and easier.

“At the core of the new Mailpac Local platform is a unique e-commerce solution built for bulk buying. Not only does the solution allow you to virtually ‘walk’ down aisles and drop things into your cart with one click, but it saves your most recent shopping cart so weekly reordering can happen very quickly. More importantly, every online shopper is paired with an actual in-store concierge that will call you with any questions or changes that need to be made,” said Robinson.
