Magnum Tonic Wine is launching an online platform for dancehall-oriented content called magnumhub.tv.

As the leading brand synonymous with dancehall, Magnum wants to “Tek Charge” of bringing all aspects of the sub-culture to the worldwide web. The portal will reportedly feature an array of stories, images, videos, and other forms of content from across the Caribbean, with Jamaica taking centre-stage.

Steve Wilson, a member of Sean Paul’s management team, believes that global access to Jamaican music is integral to its success, especially in the current globalized climate.

“Dancehall music is the child of reggae & precursor to reggaeton, which is exploding globally right now. I think it's of utmost importance for Dancehall to have a global platform so that people can see the vibrancy of our cultural creations, and share it with others. This will assist in expanding beyond artiste’s respective fan bases,” he explained.

For singjay Stacious, magnumhub.tv will give another opportunity for known and yet-to-be-known dancehall creatives to interact with fans.

“The platform is very important, with so much talent here. A lot of music is being produced and the longevity is dampened or shortened because we don’t have the mechanisms in place to promote on a wider scale,” the artiste born Stacy Scartlett said.

“The more platforms that are available to promote and showcase our music, the more people will benefit. I am excited to see how this new platform unfolds.”

Original Content

The hub will also boast specially crafted original shows, including Dancehall Taxi and Mic Sessions. For Dancehall Taxi, host Trippple X, quizzes contestants after they get in a route cab, with correct answers leading to big, on-spot cash prizes.

Mic Sessions features performing artistes in relaxed, informal settings, showcasing their freestyling skills and pared down versions of their hits.
