The St James and Hanover police are being lauded for their efforts in ridding the nation’s streets of two firearms and a number of assorted rounds of ammunition on Wednesday, October 10.

The first seizure occurred on Gordon Cresent in Granville, St James, where officers conducting an operation about 7:40 a.m., seized an M16 rifle with a magazine containing thirty 5.56 rounds of ammunition.

The second incident occurred between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Chester Castle, Hanover, where officers carried out a special operation.

An unfinished concrete structure was searched and a .37 revolver and four .37 rounds of ammunition were found in a bag which also contained four masks.

No one was taken into custody in relation to the seizures.

Investigations continue into both seizures.
