A police/military team came up trumps from an encounter with heavily-armed men in the Farm area of May Pen, Clarendon on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the seizure of an M16 assault rifle, a Glock pistol, a bulletproof vest and a small amount of ammunition.

Reports are that about 12:20 p.m., the joint patrol team was on duty in the Sevens Plantation area of the volatile Farm community in May Pen, when they came upon a group of men armed with high-powered weapons and handguns at an unfinished house.

When the shooting came to an end, the area was searched and an M16 rifle with an empty magazine,  along with a black and silver Glock pistol with a magazine containing ten .40 cartridges, and a blue ballistic vest, were found and seized.

While no member of the police/military team was injured in the encounter, it is not known if any of the men were hit.
